GreenWorks’ Environmental Awards and Trashion Show starts at 7 pm in one of the Hilton’s rich dance floors close Biltmore Village. Percussion beats over a phase lit with green and fixed with Styrofoam bundling zip-tied into mold. Before Helen Chickering of Blue Ridge Public Radio and Blake Butler make that big appearance as co-has, Asheville Contemporary Dance Theater performs “Demise by Plastica.” Four artists move from an expansive six-pack ring, tumbling down the stage, got in their plastic snares like the misled ocean turtles we’ve all found in photos.
The vitality was particularly Asheville, with the group’s Nikes and business easygoing, little cat foot sole areas and gasp suits. Natural Awards are given between looks; for Lifetime Achievement, Individuals, Organizations, Businesses, Education, and a Golden Shovel for an inventive and community venture. The going with music changes for each outfit also, subsequently the 30 seconds of Aerosmith that are impacted after a conventional Japanese woodwind, which is played after David Bowie. I am taking note of five originators – out of the 20 that partook — which I thought were the most group driven and ecologically enlivened.
